About Us

Since 1985, Providence Ministries Inc. has been a beacon of hope and transformation in Dalton, Georgia and the surrounding region. Our mission is to meet people at their point of need—offering practical help, compassionate support, and a path to long-term spiritual growth through genuine relationships.

Our story began with our founder, Roy Johnson. In 1978, Roy found that, despite outward success, his life felt empty. Money and alcohol couldn’t fill the void that only God was meant to fill. When he embraced forgiveness, love, and lasting peace, Roy’s life took a new direction. Inspired by his newfound purpose, he stepped into ministry and mission work, determined to make a difference in the lives of others facing their own struggles.

That passion led to the founding of Providence Ministries Inc. in 1985. Since then, our outreach has grown in both size and impact. We have:

  • Operated a women’s pregnancy facility that served over 25,000 clients

  • Established multiple boys’ homes reflecting our deep care for children and youth

  • Expanded into comprehensive addiction recovery programs for men and women across Georgia and Tennessee

  • Provided meals and shelter every day of the year for homeless men, women, and children

Providence Ministries remains an ever-evolving organization—responding to urgent needs and striving to foster hope, healing, and spiritual renewal. At our core, we are committed to building meaningful relationships in the community we serve and walking alongside individuals on their journey toward a brighter future.
